Little Red Wagon #235 - DIY Flower

It's Jodi's turn to host our challenge this week over at.............

and she would like to see a flower or two of the handmade variety.

No excuses......there are thousands of versions to create, from the simple to the extremely intricate, so get cutting folding, scrunching......whatever, so long as it's not plucked straight from the packaging!

I've been hoarding a fair few Silhouette flower cut files from an artist called Jamie Lane which I thought "I'll get around to trying those one day".  They first caught my eye as they are so realistic.  There are a fair few varieties of flower and I'm sure if you are of a green fingered nature you will know the difference.

Me.....I just picked the first one I thought looked pretty!

A Lisianthus apparently!

15 layers of glue, ink and curling later, I decided they were far too pretty (and time consuming!) to just stick on a card so Plan B emerged.

Here's the result:

Who doesn't love Mason jars?

In fact, I decided if I were doing the whole 'wedding' thing over again I would have Mason jars everywhere filled with flowers, candles, seashells, candies etc. etc.

Anyhow, back to the flowers -

Yes, they are pretty time consuming but sooooo worth it in the end as they are gorgeous in real life.

I may even attempt the other eight varieties I have in my stash in say......another six months!

Why not create your own floral embellishment and link up over on the blog.  The Girlfriends are there with a little more inspiration for you.

I'll be back on Saturday because unless you've been living in a cave recently, you'll know it's International Scrapbooking Day! excuse to craft the day away (if only I didn't have to go to work - boo!).

The gals over at Scrapmuch are hosting an online crop on Facebook all weekend if you care to join them.....

and Two Scrapbook Friends will be hosting a Blog Hop where the team (including myself) will showcase a sampling of crafty goodness.

I hope you can join us for a little inspiration and of course, prizes!

Til then have fun,

You & Me........Enjoy Everyday Moments.

I've been playing around on my Silhouette Cameo, creating sketches a fair bit recently.

I must admit it seems to make the whole creative process flow a little more smoothly.  I create the sketch in the software first where everything's to scale, and I can even use a lot of the shapes/embellies that I will eventually be putting on the page.

This means I get to see exactly how the finished page will look........a big bonus for the procrastinator in me!

I don't use this method for every page, especially the artsy, fartsy throw everything on there kinda thing, but for DT work where I'm trying to utilize as much of a paper collection as possible..........awesome!

So that's how it helps me.

The bonus for get the sketch (if you feel inclined or desperate enough to use it! lol).

Everyone's a winner.

So, today I'm posting the first layout from my Two Scrapbook Friends DT kit using the Modern Miss collection from Bo Bunny.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my page.....You & Me.

This collection has a co-ordinating 12"x12" sheet of chipboard die cuts so I used lot's around here........

and for the banner too...........

I rubbed a white gelato onto a heart embossed brayer (American Crafts) and randomly added a little pattern to the background.

That's pretty much it other than a little stitching to finish things off.

Drop me a comment if you manage to use the sketch as I'd love to stop by and see the results.

Have a great day.....enjoy the sunshine,

Time to Party.

Hey, how's it going?

Every thing's pretty good here especially as I'm blogging before midday for a change!!

At last, I'm finally getting around to posting my Two Scrapbook Friends DT creations using the Modern Miss collection from Bo Bunny.

It feels like eons ago when I finished this lot because basically, it was!

I'm starting things off here with 'the card'..........definitely not overly impressed with it, but at least it was pretty easy to create and a good way of using up excess chipboard embellies.

I do love that leopard print though - very Eartha Kitt.......Rrrrrrrowwwww!!

The half of you out there younger than forty something are probably wondering "who and what the heck is she on about"! (Google Catwoman in the original Batman series)

Here's a quick view of the inside......the card that is, in case I lost you there!

That's about all cause there's really not much else to say about it,

Have a great weekend and I'll be seeing you next week,

Little Red Wagon #234 - Count Me In

I seem to be chasing my tail today, so let's get on with this weeks.........

Tracy is our host and as the title suggests, she'd like to see a number, or two, or many depending on how you're feeling!

I thought I'd get well prepared for my July Wedding Anniversary this year and pick the number 14!

Now just in case you think I'm going to get all soppy on you, I'll show you the inside........

.....I like to keep him on his toes! Lol

Why not add a few numbers of your own to this weeks challenge by linking up over on the blog?

Go check out what the other Girlfriends have to offer whilst you're there.

I'll be seeing you Friday I hope, with another card.

Have a great day,

Happy Day..........and a Selfie!

Good afternoon......hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Easter break.

I am.

Sneaking a little of the kiddo's chocolate, snippets of time to scrap a page or two and everything was made just a little sweeter today with AN ANNOUNCEMENT! Dum dum daaaaaaaah!

A little while ago Scrapmuch?! posted a DT call for their inaugural Sketch Team, and as I'd been considering the idea of a sketch team for a while I decided to apply.

The stars must have aligned just perfectly because I'm happy to say I'm now officially a member of their brand spanking new Sketch Design Team!

Having attended a few of their retreats and crops in the past, the gals over at Scrapmuch?! are always such fun to be around so I'm more than happy to be joining them in their new venture.

As part of the application process, we were given a sketch to work with, created by their talented designer Laura Whitaker.

So today I'm sharing the page I created, and a little background behind it.

First the Sketch......

and here's my page:

I had been wanting to get this page done for a couple of weeks prior to the DT call deadline, and as seems to happen quite often with a few of my pages I procrastinated with the outcome!

I placed pieces here and there, moved them around yet again, changed certain elements and each time, was still not really happy with the outcome.

Although I LOVE to scrapbook, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes I get so concerned about the final outcome that I forget to enjoy the process!

Eventually I was forced to create the page within an hour on the final day of applications.

My point is......lesson learned - less of the procrastination and more fun!  This has actually turned out to be one of my favourite pages I've created recently, with only an hour allowed!

I played around with Molding Paste, a stencil, paint and stamps on the background.

The whole page was inspired by this one little word sticker by Heidi Swapp!

Lots of layers on there too.

And finally, one last confession.....the last day for applications to Scrapmuch?! happened to coincide with a new 'Selfie' challenge being launched over at Inspiration Elevator, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.

Unfortunately though, I completely forgot that there was a second element to their challenge this include on your page an insight into your scrapbooking, so I admit I have added the journalling afterward!

Pretty much sums everything up on a page surrounded by some of my favourite things!

Well that's all from me, but why not head over to Scrapmuch?! and check out the awesome talent I'll be keeping company with over the next 6 months?  A new Sketch will be posted on their blog every week and it would be awesome if you joined us!

Have a wonderful final day of the long weekend and I'll be back on Wednesday.

Till then,

Little Red Wagon #233 - Easter Parade

Another Wednesday so it's time for........

and your's truly is leading the challenge.

as we're heading into a long weekend and one of the most important celebrations on the Christian calendar, of course I chose 'Easter' for this weeks theme.

Doesn't matter how you approach it.....cute and cuddly, religious, or chocolate bunnies galore, just dig into those Wagons and get creating!

Although my first instinct was to go for the 'cute and cuddly', I settled on a more meaningful theme, inspired by an extract from an Easter poem by Helen Steiner Rice.

The design itself is a slight variation on an easel card that I found in the Silhouette store.

I tried to get a close up of the poem itself but it proved to be a little tricky!

I hope you'll get a chance to play along with us this week, just remember to link up your creations over on the blog.

The Girlfriends also have lots more inspiration for you there, so why not take a look?

Have a great day,

Well, what seemed like eons ago, I posted the first of 2 layouts from my Two Scrapbooks Friends DT Kit using the 'A Charmed Life' collection from Simple Stories.

Finally, today I'm revealing the second.

You can check out the first here if you wish as it's totally different to this one.

However, I am loving today's layout.  It's based around an older sketch from Scrap365 and I admit, I don't usually use sketches for DT work, but when I saw this background paper I sooo wanted to use it with the sketch.

Anyhow, here goes.......Attitude!

I cut a 'tea ring stain' stencil with my cameo and got to work on the background with some yellow Glimmer Mist.

I wanted one of the main aspects of this layout to be lots of stitched circles......wish I had dug out the sewing machine though instead of stitching by hand!

There are also plenty of stickers dotted here and there, as there's a co-ordinating sheet included in this collection.

To continue the idea of a confetti of stars, I scattered wooden ones around too(coloured with Copic's and a layer of Glossy Accents).

The title is also cut with my Cameo and a free font I downloaded from DaFont......Levi Rebrushed.

So that's one collection finished!

I know a few of my white background hating scrappy Girlfriends will appreciate todays offering! (You know who you are!!)

I'll be back on Monday hopefully with another layout from a new collection.

If you happen to be attending Scrapfest this weekend I may see you there......stop by the TSF booth and say Hi!

Have a great weekend,

Little Red Wagon #232 - Use A Wood Veneer

Yes......I made it!

The technical difficulties are still ongoing and I'm definitely NOT going into them cause it's driving me crazy, but at least I've made it back here for this weeks........

and today Rosanne is leading the challenge and she's like to see a Wood Veneer somewhere on your creation.

I have plenty of those so no problem there - I used 6!

Here goes:

I haven't quite decided on the sentiment for inside, but judging by this guy he looks a little on the 'wild' side (not!) so I'm thinking "Party on tiger!"

Colouring is with Copic's and papers are from Basic Grey.

Why not dig out some wood veneers yourself and join in with this weeks Little Red Wagon challenge.

I'll see you Friday.....hopefully!
Till then,

Computers to be em when they work properly.........absolutely loath them when they don't!

My Windows crashed last week and not being of an overly 'techie' disposition, it's taken me till now to try and recover everything.  The battle is not yet won as I'm still struggling to recover all the stuff from my external hard-drive........blah, blah, blah......I know this is enough to bore the tears out of anyone and let's just say there were plenty of expletives flowing from my (not so) refined mouth last week!

It's a good job there was only sad, lonely me around talking to my nemesis friend 'the computer'.

Anyhow today's post is just a quickie to test the waters......and to reassure anyone out there who's wondering where the heck I've been (yes Mom I'm still alive!)

Am I online or not? Hopefully yes because tomorrow is Wednesday which means another Little Red Wagon creation is due........completely missed last weeks!

So all being well, I'll be here and so will my post.

Till then, I'll leave you with the cutest pic I snapped of Charlie the other day whilst on the phone to my Mom......yes I can multitask you know!

Isn't he cute?

Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth as the saying goes, but apparently my boots, curtains and rugs do!

See you tomorrow,

Sharin' A Smile.

Good morning to you!

It's 7am on April 1st and no this is not a joke......I really am here bright and early for a change!

We've headed into a new month which means it's time for a brand new challenge over at Two Scrapbook Friends, and yours truly is the host.

We received some fabulous entries last month and although Spring is trying it's best to make an appearance ( I know I for one am desperately trying to soak up every ray of sunshine out there!), I'm hoping you will all still have a chance to play along again this month!

Please remember that every entry linked over on the TSF blog needs to show your interpretation of both the Sketch and the Crafty element.

So without further ado, and continuing with my move into digital, here's this months Sketch:

For the 'Crafty' element of my challenge, I have chosen something which is pretty 'on trend' right now........Confetti!

You don't have to stick to paper of course, although you can if you wish.  Sequins, rhinestones, pearls, enamel dots, eyelets, brads and even paint splatters to name a few, will all work just fine as long as you create a scattered confetti styled element on your design.

Here's my sample:

Don't they say dog owners begin to look like their canine friends?

I started to believe this after I looked at the photo my daughter snapped........Charlie and I wearing the same expression!

For my 'confetti' I used a selection of sequins, pearls and rhinestones......

I also added a paper covered wood veneer circle, a pin/button and the title is cut using my Cameo.

A fairly simple page really, but it makes me happy.

I do hope you'll get a chance to play along with my challenge this's always fascinating to see a sketch used in so many different ways!

Don't forget to link up your creation over on the TSF blog because as always, there's a Gift Certificate to the store up for grabs by one lucky winner!

Well that's about it from me but I'll be back tomorrow, together with the rest of the Little Red Wagon gals.

See you then,
