Cheers!

Good Monday morning, how's it going?

I'm doing a really good job of ignoring the pile of laundry that's just sitting there staring at me! I'd much rather blog.

I'm here with a little winter creation as the snow sitting outside my window has definitely set the scene. This one's probably heading across the pond to my Uncle who's Birthday is next month, so on that note........'Cheers!'..........

This cozy mouse is a 'freebie' I picked up eons ago from Torico's Digital Gallery, but unfortunately I can no longer find any links for it.

The image is coloured with Prisma pencils and mineral spirits, with a little Glossy Accents on his eyes.

Papers are from last years Bo Bunny winter line and the layout was inspired by a previous sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch.
The snowflakes were made using a couple of different sized punches..........

and the sentiment was printed using Word.........

That's it from me for today. I'm now gonna completely ignore that laundry and go get groceries........the lesser of two evils!

Have a great day

Friendzy Friday at Two Scrapbook Friends.

Hi there, me again!

As a new member of the Design Team over at Two Scrapbook Friends, it's my turn to host Friendzy Friday. For my debut I wanted to talk about the 'Shake It' products you can find at the store.

This really is an awesome line that takes all the hard work out of creating 'shaker' projects, in a variety of shapes. There are two parts to the system, a plastic cover, and a paper overlay........

First, you will need to decide what you would like to appear behind the shaker window. This could be a stamped image, patterned paper or even a photograph....the choice is yours. I coloured a stamped image using my Copic markers.
You then need to carefully place whatever you want to use as your shaking elements, in a small pile in the center of your background. Again here the choice is yours, but I decided upon a combination of micro beads and sequins.

The next step can be a little tricky as we need to adhere the plastic cover to the background, and micro beads or glitter often develop a love affair with static! First, remove the clear film on the back of the shaker window.........

.......then move fairly quickly to stick it down. I've found that the more you hover, the more the beads will move around, so decide where it's going and put it there!

Next we need to adhere the overlay. I tend to use a double sided sticky tape such as Scor-Tape as it creates a good firm bond. If you'd like to 'pretty' the overlay in any way ie. inking, distressing etc., do this before you stick.
I chose to emboss..........

You can then go ahead and put your shaker onto your chosen project. Again here the options are endless....... a card, gift tag, scrapbook page.....almost anything.

Mine found it's way onto a gift box I'd made, to hold a handmade set of cards.

I do hope you'll give these a try as they really are fun, so much so that my kiddies enjoyed making a few over the Christmas holidays.

Have a great day.

Sweet secrets!

Hi there, it's me again....the 'bad blogger'!

I know it appears I've been neglecting my Blog, which of course I have, but it's not that I haven't been busy creating......really I have! It's just that I've been working on a few DT projects which of course can't be revealed yet, so unfortunately my Blog is the one to suffer!

Anyhow I have a real sweetie for you today. Thought I'd jump back into the swing of things with another Saturated Canary image......nothing like a stamp from Krista Smith to get the old mojo working. Here's 'Secrets, Ragamuffin Friends'...........
Link

Yep, a huge helping of prettiness! All the time I was colouring this, I had visions of Shabby Chic.......a handmade quilt, doilies, tea roses.....everything that reminds you of your Grandma. I swear if we had 'Smellyvision', you would smell the perfume coming off this right now! Anyhow, that explains all the elements I have going on here.

Colouring is with my Prisma pencils, blended with mineral spirits, and a touch of Copic's on fleshy area's.

Papers are from one of my old fave's...........the My Minds Eye Stella and Rose line. We also have some 'faux' stitching using a Sakura Glaze pen, and as the current challenge over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog is to use Dies and/or punches, I've rolled flowers made from a Die-namics die and created a doily using one of my Nesties.

I love this card.....not sure where it's going yet, although it will probably end up with my eldest daughter, as we all know anything she gets has to be 100% pretty!

Have a great day and believe it or not......I'll be back tomorrow!
Take care

Pappy played Soccer?!

Hi there, how's it going?

As promised I'm here with a scrapbook layout today as I've been trying to join in a few of the challenges over on the Two Scrapbook Friends forum. Shelby posted a a challenge last week to create a layout using 'Itty Bitty Pic's" no larger than 3"x3", so last night I finally got down to business.

Here goes................

Now, there's a story behind the LO and a story behind the photograph.....which shall we start with? The photo I think.

This photograph arrived in the mail a few weeks ago from my father-in-law, as a little quiz shall we say, for our girls. As you can see it was taken a fair few years ago (50 to be precise!) and shows a few of the family in their......ahem....younger days. The question was 'Can you find Pappy?'

As the title suggests, I think their first question was "Pappy played soccer?!", closely followed by "Where's his moustache?"

Joking aside, I love these old photo's as I don't have many of them, and this one even shows a Great Uncle and Great Grandfather who are sadly no longer with us. Although I'm no expert at vintage layouts, I'm hoping I've done a decent enough job.

Now onto the challenge - ''Itty Bitty Pic's".....well I guess you could say I took a few liberties!

When I sat down to craft last night, I realized I didn't have enough small photo's printed for what I wanted to do, so I attacked one with my trimmer instead! At least they're all 2"x2"!

Here's a few more close-ups before I leave.

A nice little tag cut using my new 'Slice' .......did I mention I had a 'Slice' for my Birthday (ssshhhh it's not my Birthday till next week!)

Found this perfect 'Family' plate, which I've had forever, hiding in my stash.

Another cute tab to hold the date, again cut using my new 'Slice', which I will share deets about once I officially receive it!

I guess I should mention before I go that papers are a mixture from Graphic 45 and Prima.

Well that's it from me, so enjoy your day and I'll see what I can come up with next......I have no clue really, but I'm sure I'll find something.
Take care

Chillax!

Hi there, I'm hoping you're all having a Happy New Year so far.

I have some good news to share with you today.....see that shiny new DT badge over there on the right?

I'm happy to say I've joined the Design Team over at Two Scrapbook Friends and I'm so excited to start this new quest. It will probably mean you'll be seeing more scrapbook layouts posted on here together with the usual good measure of cards.

I thought it was quite appropriate that I should post this particular card today, as it's using another rubber stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs, which TSF recently gave me the privilege of experimenting with. It's one of those cute images you could use for pretty much anything, but in this case I think the inside will be of the 'It's your Birthday' variety.............

My Prisma pencils made an appearance again for this one, together with a little paper piecing and a touch of glitter. Papers are from My Little Yellow Bicycle (Winter Twig).

It's funny how things work out, but I was struggling to come up with a sentiment for this card, as I didn't want it to be of the Christmas variety. I happened to find this rubber stamp in the 'cheap' bin at Michael's, and knew it was perfect for this image................

That's it form me so have a great day and I'll be seeing you soon
