Crochet flowers anyone?

I'm here with something a little different today..........a little project of mine.

You know those pretty little crochet flowers we see here and there, the ones that look oh so nice on cards and layouts. The ones that are available in a whole range of lovely colours..........the ones that can become a little expensive for the obsessive amongst us who decide they need every available colour (ahem........mentioning no names!).

Well, I decided in my wisdom that I could make my own. Crocheting can't be that difficult.......you only use one hook......I have two hands.......I could probably colour at the same time! (lol) Yes, this was me being naive, but I now had a mission and was determined to conquer the crochet hook.

Here's how it went..........

First, I tried using some lovely cotton yarn, I thought would look really purdy!

Too thick!

Then, I found some crochet cotton which was much thinner, and I thought would work better...........

.........it did! Maybe the clue was in the name...........Crochet Cotton..........do ya think?

So then, I went on a little flower frenzy...............

...........believe me, there are more since.

Then, I tried them on a super quick, less than 10 minutes card...............

There we go........mission complete! Not perfect, but I'm satisfied with the results and they're certainly economical.

Here's my challenge to you all........pick up the hook and go for it!

Have a great day

Somebunny loves you!

Hi there, just dropping in with another Easter card. This is using one of my favourite stamps, as it was one of the very first Lori Boyd creations I coloured. In fact it was one of the first ever stamps I coloured. Yep....this is one that got me started on this crazy card making train!

Anyhow, I'll cut to the chase and show the card shall I?

So this is sweet 'Presley' Lollipop, and you can find her in digi form over at the Lollipop Shop of course. Or if you're feeling the need for that smell of red rubber, you can pick her up from Stamping Bella. I have actually used her on this layout before, but this time I thought I'd turn it into the Easter/Spring variety............the numerous 'bunny' references and all!

Presley is coloured with Copic's and has plenty of sparkle added to her dress. Papers are from the We R Memory Keepers 'Peep' line, with a little enhancement from a Martha Stewart punch, a button and baker's twine.

That's it from me for today.........guess I'll go and enjoy the (hopefully) last dump of snow!

Have a good one

'Twas the night before Christmas.............in March!

Hi there.....me again, which means it must be Sunday and time for a new challenge over at OSAAT. Unfortunately, today's post is a little bittersweet, as this will be my last DT creation for OSAAT. Life is pretty busy right now, so it's time for me to step down. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Stitchy and all the lovely ladies over there, for their support and friendship over the last 8 months..........it's been a blast, and I'm sure I'll be seeing them around 'blogland'.

So, the theme for today's challenge is 'For the Boys', and this week also happens to be 'Christmas Club' time again, so my creation is just that........all about Christmas.........

I love this image from Lexi Creations called Christmas Night, which you can find at the Stitchy Bear Stamps Store. She's coloured this week with Copic's and papers are from the Bo Bunny Midnight Frost line.

I had a little inspiration for the layout this week, from a sketch over at Mojo Monday a couple of weeks back........

So that's it for today and I'm thinking I'll be taking Sunday's off for a while. Guess I'd better get my act into gear and visit a little more often during the week!

Have a great day and I'll be seeing you soon.

You're A Star!

Well that was a fun week..........March break at home with the kiddies and an unwelcome stomach bug! Think I must have upset someone in a previous life. Anyhow, things picked up toward the end of the week, so we got out to burn off a little of that energy.

I'm finally here to post my Lori Boyd creation that's been sitting on my desk for a while. Do you remember the card I made for eldest DD in honour of the dance recital? (You can check it out here if you feel inclined) Well today I have the younger version, for my youngest DD.........here's Ballet Mouse.........

You can find 'Ballet Mouse' over at the Lollipop Shop of course.

I've coloured today with Prisma pencils and papers are a mixture of October Afternoon (Campfire) and Martha Stewart, both embossed. So, you may guess that DD's favourite colour is 'red', hence the overdose of said colour. Also, you can't really tell from the photo, but this little mouse is covered in plenty of sparkle. Thought I'd also use some Tulle for a change to liven things up.

Well, that's about it for today......short and sweet!

Enjoy the weekend and I'll see you tomorrow.

A bit of Bling!

Hi there, remember Me? The absent blogger! Another busy week and a serious question.....can someone tell me where the days go, really, cause every time I blink, it seems another week has flown by.

Well, Sunday has certainly rolled around again, so that means a new challenge over at OSAAT, and our theme this week has been chosen by the lovely Deborah............'Glitter and Gems'. One lucky winner will receive 5 digi's of their choice from.........

So, what are we waiting for..........this week I got to colour up another cute little lady, from one of my favourite creator's, Kelley's Kids, which you can find at the Stitchy Bear Stamps Store. Introducing 'Bebe'.........

On with the deets. Bebe is coloured with Copic's and papers are from the Paisley Road line from Prima, as is the flower. I used a Fiskar's border punch and ribbon and bling, I believe are from Michael's. The 'Party' ticket sentiment is a freebie I picked up quite a while ago from Wendymade & all things crafty. Lastly, my LO inspiration came from a sketch, this week from Card Patterns..........

So there you have it. Go check out the lovely creations the rest of the DT came up with over at OSAAT, and why not join in the challenge whilst you're there?

Take it easy and enjoy the rest of your day. I'm looking forward to going to bed an hour earlier tonight, after having one ungraciously taken from me this morning!

See ya later

Dance like no-one is watching!.......

Sunday has rolled around again.....hope you're having a good one. It's challenge day of course over at OSAAT and our sponsor this week, who are offering 5 Promarkers to one lucky winner is...........

So, what's this weeks theme............to use a charm, nice and easy, and chosen by our lovely fellow DT member, Josephine.

I coloured an image this week from Sylvie's Stamps called 'Leona' and she's a beauty.............

You can find 'Leona' over at the Stitchy Bear Stamps Store of course, but this card will be making it's way to my eldest DD, as a celebration of her dance recital.

I love the papers on this card.........the new Stella and Rose line from My Minds Eye, together with grey card stock....love that colour combo. Leona was coloured with Copic's, and I used ribbon and a border punch from Martha Stewart. The charm was actually cut from a bracelet I found at a discount store, and tied with bakers twine, and the sentiment is printed using my PC.

That's about it from me, so enjoy the rest of your day.

Happy crafting!

A New Release and a Blog Hop!

Hi there.....sorry I've been a little absent so far this week, but believe me.......todays post is worth the wait. Exciting stuff is happening again at By LORI Designs.............a new release of digi's and oh my goodness they're cute!

To celebrate, we're having a blog hop! That way you get to see all of the wonderful creations the DT have come up with. I'll get to the list in a minute, but first.......a card me thinks.

I got to play with one sweet little girl..........Puddle Jumper Lyla, who you can find over at The Lollipop Shop of course............

So, is she sweet or what? I love everything about this card.....my new favourite (I haven't said that for a while!)

Lyla and her Easter basket are coloured with Copic markers, and papers are from the My Minds Eye, brand spanking new range, Stella and Rose, and OMG are these worth buying! I used the 6x6 pad and they are gorgeous. The fabric flower is from Recollections at Michael's, ribbon is Martha Stewart, and I printed the sentiment onto a 'Nestie' using my PC.

So, are you ready to see some more beauties? Wait no more......here's the list for you, and did I happen to mention there's a prize involved, if you feel like leaving a few lovely comments along the way?
