Together

Good morning.

I'm a little later than intended with today's post, as Scrapmuch? combined forces with Stuck?! Sketches on Saturday to create a Colour/Sketch Challenge.

As a member of the Scrapmuch? DT, I was given the opportunity along with the rest of the team to create a page using the current Sketch at Stuck?! combined with the current Colour Challenge from Scrapmuch?

Make sense?

You can check out all of the creations from the Scrapmuch? DT over on the Stuck?! blog (lovely they are too!), but here's my effort.

Together

Before I continue with the deets, here is the Sketch......

and here's the colour combination.....

Pretty nice huh?

So for my page I went a little 'artsy', in other words I had a little play with some mixed media......more so than usual I guess.

The background started with a subtle wash of blue watercolour, followed by stencilled modelling paste, stamping and some paint splatters.

I managed to get a little wood on there and some of my recent chipboard winnings from Creative Embellishments, which I covered with a pale pink embossing powder.

A stand alone cluster of pretties here.....

And the main group around the photo.....flowers, die cut, clothes pin, cheesecloth and more chipboard.

I finished the whole thing with some pencil drawn circles and a few dew drops here and there.

So, do you feel like a challenge?  If you combine the two challenges and link up on both the Stuck?! and Scrapmuch? blogs, you could be in with a chance of winning two prizes!

Can't beat that!

I'll be back again sometime this week so till then have a good one,
Jayne.x.

Gr 6

My little blog is getting dusty from lack of posts recently, so time to change things!

I'm almost recovered from my happy scrappy weekend away.......I'd like to say I'm all rested and rejuvenated but the sad fact is that I'm getting too old to handle the 'scrapping till 2am' scenario!  Good job I only had to last 2 days!!

Good news is I have some crafty endeavors to post.

Today I'm blogging a fairly simple page I created using the November 15th Sketch over at Stuck?!.

This impresses myself in two ways:

#1. It's a current Sketch and therefore qualifies for entry into their contest........this does not happen with me very often as I set out with good intention to enter these things, then finally post a month later!

#2. I've actually scrapped this years school photo (one of them anyhow!) and we're still in 2014.......monumental I'd say!

Gr 6

Here's the Sketch and before you try to figure out any resemblance to my page, I did rotate it 90 degrees CCW to accommodate my photo.

Close ups include.......

a Silhouette cut circular caption, and a background panel, together with a little stitching - real and doodled.

Another cool little Silhouette cut (decorative circle) and a metal 'Smile' brad I found in my stash.

Finally, I mixed up the title.......part wood alpha's, part Silhouette and one of my current faves.......pin badges/buttons.

I am all over these things right now.....can't get enough of them!

Love the papers btw.......Creative Agenda from Echo Park........gorgeous bright colour scheme but not too in your face, and grounded by that great Navy blue.

OK that's about all so I'm off to link up this baby.

Have a great day,
Jayne.x.

Happy Day

Hey, how's it going?

My title suggests a 'Happy Day' and it would be if I didn't have a nose that's glowing like Rudolph and a voice which might be considered sexy in a husky kinda way, if it wasn't for the fact that the congestion makes me sound like I'm wearing a nose clip!

My little one was sick all last week and was kind enough to share with her Momma......joy!

Oh well, I'm cheering myself up with a happy kinda layout.

I finished this one a few weeks ago but as usual, I'm playing the blogging 'catch up' game.  The layout was inspired by an older Sketch from Stuck?! Sketches.........

Here goes......Happy Day!

Pretty much stuck to the sketch exactly here.....if it ain't broken etc......

Plus the fact that the background paper is busy enough to fill in the gaps.

I got folding with an accordion heart - you can find the tutorial here.

Added a few acrylic paint splatters here and there......

and a cute cluster of embellies here......

I'm loving my sequins right now - they seem to be making their way onto every layout I create these days!

Papers for this one are from My Minds Eye.

OK, I'm done so I'll be back again tomorrow once I've dug to the bottom of my 'Little Red Wagon'.

See you then,
Jayne.x.

Happy 2014......maybe just a tad late!

Good morning.

I managed to fit in some happy crafting this week between snow storms......or rather 'during' snow storms!  What better way to spend those cold, dark nights than holed up in your craft room?

I really wanted to create a layout using the current sketch over at Stuck?!Sketches and link up.

I use their sketches quite often, but usually older ones so I never seem to link up to be in with a chance of winning anything.

Not today........I'm linked and in there! Lol

I do really like my page though.....it just seemed to come together really nicely. The plan in my head worked (for once!), and these days I'm really liking a carefree use of stamps on my pages.

At one time I was scared to death to stamp anything on a layout for fear that it would either not stamp effectively, or I wouldn't like the look of it!  Now, especially with the popular distressed/grunged look, and the fact that more and more art journalling techniques are settled nicely into scrapbooking, the pressure is off.  Stamp away, and if it doesn't work perfectly.......who cares, it was 'meant' to look like that anyhow! (wink!!)

Here we go, better late than never........Happy 2014!

This photo was taken a few weeks ago when my hubby and daughters attended the Mayor's levee in Cambridge and had a great time.......Mommy was at work! :-(

At the celebration, they had a photo booth kinda thing set up where you were able to dress up in various props and have your shot taken.  These were then later e-mailed out to you.......a perfect scrapbook opportunity, even when you're not present!

I wanted to focus on photography and numbers as a general theme throughout this page, hence the arrangement I cut using my Cameo, embellished with a film strip from Tim Holtz.......

I love that tape but a word of advice if you're using it.......I'm convinced it will not stick down with anything other than cement (and even then I'm not really convinced).

Having used it on a fair few pages, I now just instantly reach for the staple gun.......saves for a lot of frustration (and cursing!).

When I saw the circle on the sketch, I thought 'clock face' - perfect!  Just had to search for one in the Silhouette store and found this vintage version.

There's also some of that random stamping I mentioned and a little more down here, together with my title which actually worked out I think.  The sequins remind me of light bulbs which was sort of the look I was going for.

Finally it needed fireworks, so I got to work with the Liquid Pearls.......I don't think I've used this stuff in the last 5 years!

Papers are the 'Celebrate' collection from Authentique.

That's about all so I guess I'll be getting ready to go to work.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week,
Jayne.x.

Hair Raising!

Hi there.

Don't you just love it when you wake up to this.......

Happy October to ya!!

So, as you can probably guess....I am NOT a snow fan, which is why I'm going to cheer myself up with a nice little layout here today, then some happy scrapping later.

I don't seem to have had much time recently for 'scrapping for pleasure', what with family and home commitments (you know I'm talking about that puppy right?!), and DT responsibilities.

Not that I don't enjoy my DT work, of course I do, but sometimes ya just want to sit and scrap whatever the heck you feel like.....yes?

So today's page is just that.......for fun!

It was inspired by a great sketch from the lovely Laura Whitaker over at Stuck! Sketches.

This site is a fabulous resource for sketches if you're ever in need of inspiration.

So as there is a prize involved if you enter a layout (bonus!), this baby will be heading over there.

Guess we'd better get on with it.

Here's today's page:

Hair Raising.

Remember that puppy I mentioned earlier?

I apologize if this photo and those following may seem a little blurred or hurried maybe, but this if the following shot.......

.....Charlie!!

I snapped  the next few minutes balancing on one leg whilst holding him off with the other!

The joys of puppy hood!

There's an abundance of 'Whiteout' on here, together with Washi tape and a doily.

Layers, semi-circles, hand cut hearts and lots of doodling.....I do love a good doodle on a layout!

There's even a little 'stamped' chicken wire here and there, and finally, I placed the title and a few more embellies in place of the journalling.

Papers are from My Minds Eye and there you have it.

I'll be seeing you again soon, so enjoy the rest of the day,
Jayne.x.
