Little Red Wagon #262 - Home Is Where The Heart Is

Good evening.

Here I am catching up on this weeks post for............

Carolyn has chosen this weeks challenge and gone for a 'Home is where the heart is' kinda thing and I'll admit........I struggled with this one!

I couldn't quite decide which way I wanted to go, as it's open to your own interpretation.  So after ummming and errring for quite a few days, I happened to catch sight of a little colouring my eldest daughter had toiled over.

An image from Saturated Canary that was completed coloured in red, white and, blue.

Perfect!

I shamelessly copied the idea of an 11 year old and came up with this........

Created in the colours of my Homeland.......the red, white and blue of the Union Jack!

So, are you feeling a little crafty!  Why not create your own interpretation of this weeks challenge and link up over on the Little Red Wagon blog.  The Girlfriends have some crafty goodness waiting there for you too.

I'll see you bright and early in the morning for this weeks Sketch-y Friday over at Scrapmuch?

Till then,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #257 - In Stitches

Good morning!

It's Wednesday which means it must be time for another challenge over at......

It happens to be my turn for this weeks challenge, so I'm going with one of my trusty favourites.......Stitching!

Real or faux, doesn't matter as long as there is some form of thread resembling pattern on your creation!

I absolutely love the look of 'real' sewing on a card or layout, but unfortunately I'm usually too lazy to fetch my sewing machine from the basement, or just a little mentally challenged when it comes to achieving a beautifully straight line!

So unfortunately, for my sample you'll have to make do with a fine line marker and a (not so) steady hand!

Looking back now, I think my 'faux stitching' turned more into 'faux doodling' with my uneven zig-zags, but I'm sure you get the general idea.

This is also the first image I have coloured in at least nine months!

I kinda lost my mojo when my computer crashed back then, and I lost the whole of my digi collection.......a few hundred to say the least.  I hadn't got the heart or motivation to start collecting again so.......I just stopped!

Fortunately for me, the other night I was trawling back through old emails from 2012 and found some which still had attachments of some of my favourite Saturated Canary images.......joy!

I finally forced myself to pick up a marker and get back on the bicycle so to speak.

After all.......I am now the proud owner of 24 digital images!!!!

Note to self: When you have not coloured anything for....oh.....say......nine months or more, maybe you should start with something you were at least familiar with before (Copics!) and not something you had never quite got to grips with in the first place! (Promarkers!!).

Just sayin'!

Oh well, it's a start.

Hopefully you will have some success with the sewing machine, needle and thread, or marker and whip up some fabulously stitched creations.

Just link up over on the Little Red Wagon blog and we'll be sure to stop by.

Don't forget also, to check out a little inspiration from the rest of the Girlfriends whilst you're there.

Have a great week,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #243 Animal Antics

Well hello!

I feel as though I'm finally starting to get back to normal as far as my health is concerned.  Still a slight problem with numbness in my hands but improving slowly, and at least I've managed a little crafting.

Today is Wednesday which means it's time for a new challenge over at.........

and thankfully, this week I'm able to join in.

Jan would like to see some Animal Antics, so basically any animal will do as long as there's one on there.

Here's my effort:

I feel as though it's been forever since I used a coloured image on a card, and to be honest this was one I found in my stash......already coloured from eons ago and ready to go!

The image is from Saturated Canary and coloured with Copics.  I added a little sparkle, as no pig could possibly be seen wearing a tutu with no sparkle!!

I hope you'll get a chance to join in with our challenge this week.  Just hop on over to the blog and link up your own creation........after perusing a little inspiration from the rest of the Girlfriends of course!

Have a great week and I'll be back on Friday (promise!) with a layout.

See you then,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #221 - Clean and Simple

Yep, that just about covers it for this weeks challenge over at...........

Joanne would like to see a little 'less is more' for her Clean and Simple challenge.

Ahhh it almost feels like a reprieve when these challenges come along - no guilt associated with quashing that need to add more!

Nope, just enjoy a little colouring, a snippet of an embellie here or there and Bob's your Uncle you're done.

Here goes:

I played with my Cameo again.....cut a section from a 12" x 12" background, added a border then used it as an overlay(believe me, this is a major accomplishment in my book!).

The pretty little lady from Saturated Canary is coloured with Copic's and fussy cut for me by my electronic assistant......that's just a fancy way of me saying I figured out another button in the software!

Oh, I did manage to design and cut the pennant too, then used a Sketch pen to add the sentiment and the outline.......WOW.....3 new buttons in one day!

That's about all from me so all you need is 10 minutes to join in with this weeks challenge. Link up over on the blog and check out the beautifully 'clean and simple' projects from the rest of the Girlfriends while you're there.

Have a great day and I'll see you Friday with a layout cause I have a couple of scrappy dates planned this week......seriously hoping to get my fingers dirty if inspiration strikes!

Ttfn,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #215 - Christmas Birthday.

Good morning on yet another freezing cold day in these parts.

I'm definitely NOT a Winter person so it's about now I start getting grouchy and dreaming of hibernation!

To make matters worse, our puppy has decided he LOVES snow, so what  used to be a quick dash outside to do what needed to be done (!), has now turned into an epic journey of discovery, rolling around and frolicking in the white stuff every time we venture out there!

Thermals will be added to the Christmas list me thinks........hope I've been a good girl otherwise the dogs gonna loose out.

Anyhow onto the purpose of today's post, (but just in case you're wondering, no I have not succumbed to any nasty bacteria my kiddo's may feel the need to share.......yet!).........it's Little Red Wagon Day........

Tammy's leading the charge today and as she's a December baby, she'd like to see some Christmassy kinda Birthday cards.

Don't think I've ever made one to be honest, but what I can gather from anyone I've ever come into contact with who has a Birthday within the close vicinity of Christmas, they usually get the 'double up' kinda card/prezzie. This in turn might peeve them, I'm guessing, just a little.......rightly so!

Now as I'm not one to rub salt in the wounds I thought I'd make a sweet, perfectly appropriate Birthday card with no hint or suggestion of recycling, or anything Christmas!

I love the look on this girls face - the kind you see when they find the dreaded Christmas sweater under the tree, and perfect for our topic of conversation!

Digi is from Saturated Canary and coloured with Copic's, while papers are a 2012 winter collection from We R Memory Keepers.

That's about all so head on over to the Little Red Wagon blog for some Christmassy Birthday inspiration from the rest of the Girlfriends.
You can wish Tammy a Happy Christmas Birthday while you're there too!

Have a great day and I'll see you Friday,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #202 Frame It!

OK, so it's Regan's turn hosting the challenge this week over at ..........

and she'd like to see a frame on your project.

Done, and it's CAS all the way for this girl!

Here goes:

I did finally use one of the Crate Paper fabric frames I've been hoarding, since my girlfriend bought them for me quite a while ago........thanks Carola!

Digi is from Saturated Canary and coloured with Copic's.

I tried a slightly darker skin tone and I'm still trying to decide if she looks as though she has a slight sunburn!

Oh well, we live and learn.

Feel free to join in with this weeks challenge over on the blog, and don't forget to check out the creations from the rest of the girlfriends.

That's it from me, see you soon,

A little Va Va Voom!

Good morning.

I have a card up today, one which shows I finally got around to trying out the 'Mini Blind' technique I'd seen a few weeks ago, over at Splitcoast Stampers.

Thought I'd kill two birds with one stone too, as it's Monday, and my turn for another Crafty Challenge over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum.

For this weeks challenge I chose an oldie' but 'goodie'......paper piecing!

So here goes with Step 1, cause there are steps to this you know.

Moving smoothly into Step 2......a gentle pull on both ties.

And finally Step 3, where we do actually get to see some paper piecing.

That dress just had to be an animal print, don't ya think?

This card is actually heading to my Mother-In-Law for her Birthday.  The inside sentiment reads ".......but you've still got it!"  Thought she might appreciate that, and you have to keep on the good side of Mother-In-Laws don't you?

Digi is from Saturated Canary and coloured with Copics.  Papers are from Basic Greys' "Little Black Dress' collection.

Feel free to join in with this weeks challenge and I'll see you again soon.
Have a good day,
Jayne.x.

Love You.

Hello, how are you doing?

Things got a little busy on my blog over the weekend, the most visitors I've ever had..........over 1000 of you lovely people dropped in......Wowsers!  That's a lot for this little blog and I think it was mostly down to Pinterest, although I still can't really figure what to do over there.......I just browse occasionally, usually when I'm looking for a dinner recipe!

Anyhow the point I'm getting to is I'd like to thank everyone that stopped by and especially those who do so on a regular basis.  Got a few new followers last week too, so a big warm welcome to those and thanks for joining me.

Onto some crafty stuff.

Another card today and I know I'm probably getting a little predictable here but it's another combo of my two faves..........a Saturated Canary digi paired with Authentique papers.  Sorry.....can't help it (well actually I'm not sorry at all cause I'll probably never get tired of these two!) but just to warn you, I went on a little colouring frenzy of Saturated Canary digi's recently, so you'll probably be seeing a fair few more over the next couple of weeks.

This one, I coloured a couple of months ago but yesterday, she finally made it onto my hubby's Valentine's card.

Fairly simple really.....I didn't want anything too fussy or girlie.....is it going to a male after all.

Colouring is with Copic's..........

and that's about all I have to say about that!

Have a great day.  I plan on it as this evening I will be lead by my fearless friend to a few session of BINGO!  I'm am definitely a novice, it's all I can do to get the numbers marked off let alone keep an eye on whether I've won!  This is why I rely on Carola to show me the ropes.........."Get your dabber ready Girlfriend, I'm ready to go!"

Also, one more thing before I leave.........there are exciting things happening on Friday.........Two Scrapbook Friends will be hosting a Blog Hop!  Now who doesn't love a Blog Hop especially when there's a ton load of inspiration along the way, and prizes to be won?

For once I am actually prepped and ready to go ahead of time........layout is complete, photo's taken, blog post scheduled, and I am lovin' this one.  I might post a sneaky peak sometime this week, but either way, set you alarm for 12.00pm on Friday and come join us.

That's definitely it from me so enjoy, see you soon,
Jayne.x.

The Happy Wanderer.

Good morning, pull up a pew and put your feet up for a little while!

I plan on doing just that today as a result of the abandoned teachers protest........kids are at school and I just might do......nothing!

Except for chatting on here a little and posting pictures of pretty things of course.

A card today with a coloured image - Saturated Canary, and Authentique papers no less.........I guess things are pretty much back to normal around here, can't let go of my faves!

Here goes.

This little lady will be heading into the current challenge over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog........song inspiration.  My song irritation inspiration is as follows:

I made the card for a girlfriend at work who's Birthday was yesterday, and who happens to make the 5 hour train journey back home  to see her folks quite frequently.  She just happened to be taking said journey yesterday on her Birthday, so I thought this image was quite appropriate.

As I was making it, for some reason that really annoying song from my childhood 'The Happy Wanderer' popped into my head.......know the one......."I love to go a wandering along the mountain track".........yep wander them every day........."and as I go I love to sing, my knapsack on my back"......never leave home without one!........."Valdereee Valderaaaah Valdereeee Valderaah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha"........I really should end it there.....it gets no better!

The reason it's so annoying (apart from the obviously irritating lyrics!) is that as a child, I was forced to learn and sing this song at school during music class for a whole hour.  It's one of those that permanently lodges itself into the deep, dark recesses of your brain and resurfaces at every opportunity, so you find yourself humming it!  After 3days when you finally thought you'd banished it, music class rolled around again and you were back to square one!

Anyhow enough of that......I'm already starting to hum in my head.

The layout for this card is inspired by Sketch #83 over at The Deconstructed Sketch, and colouring of the cutie is with Copics.

That's about if from me.  I'm off to find some creative inspiration floating around here somewhere, in the hope that I can make something worth showing on here next week.

Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.

Miss You!

Hello and a very Happy New Year to you!

Time for a card today, one which is just a tad late appearing on here.

Should have been blogged sometime last year as it was one I was fortunate enough to have published in Designed To Colour.  Unfortunately, due to the time frame you have to allow after publication, before you are allowed to blog it yourself.........(let's just say anything longer than a week is enough for things to completely disappear from my brains 'to-do' list)........I forgot until such a time when it miraculously resurfaced!

Looks like that time is now, so here goes.

Image is another cute Saturated Canary digi (I believe it was a freebie at the time!) and colouring is with Copics.

Papers are another favourite of mine......Authentique of course!

Well I hope your new year has started well.

I'm out with my eldest dd tonight for our 3 hour viewing of The Hobbit......quite looking forward to getting settled with my hot dog, Maltesers (obviously eating healthily has already disappeared from my list of resolutions!) and maybe a little nap in there somewhere depending on how things go!

Have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow,
Jayne.x.

The first Christmas card!

Hi there, just stopping in with a card today.

Believe it or not this is the first Christmas card I've made this season!  Definitely playing catch up otherwise I'll be occupying the naughty list this year.

Not a surprise really that it's using another Saturated Canary image, Krista's gorgeous images get me every time.  This was one I actually purchased last Christmas but have only just gotten around to putting some colour on there.

Anyhow here goes.

Sorry for the poor lighting but it's attempting snow out there, so we're struggling for any sunshine.

I thought I'd dig out the pencils for this one, so colouring is with Prisma's, blended with OCMS.

It just so happens that the challenge over on the Saturated Canary Blog this week is a sketch, and as my cardmaking mojo has hit a bit of a slump recently, there was no way I could turn down a good sketch.

Almost forgot.....papers for this one are from Bo Bunny's winter collection from last year - Snowfall.

Well that's all for today, hopefully there will be a few more Christmas cards turning up over the next couple of weeks.
Take care out there and have a great day,
Jayne.x.

80's Style!

Okey dokey I'm off for a day of scrapping today with a lovely bunch of ladies, so just time for a quick post on here.

A card and a dose of Saturated Canary goodness!  I feel as though I haven't been colouring in forever, or rather anything I have coloured hasn't made it's way on to cards.....yet!

So at last, this image (which has been sitting coloured for approx 3 months!!!!) finally makes it's debut.

'Pink'.....is she cool or what, and with a name like that her hair couldn't be any other colour!

Colouring is with Copic's and papers are from Echo Park 'Summer Days'.

I did leave the sentiment off this one for now (hence the vacant space in the top left corner!) as I'm not sure what I'll use it for.  Happily it's one of those that could be used for a number of things........'stay cool', 'chill out', 'happy b'day' etc. etc.

Well that's it for today.....short and sweet like I said but I'll be back again this week.
Have a good one,
Jayne.x.

You're a lifesaver!

Hello again.

Time for a card today me thinks.

I've used another Saturated Canary image (you might have guessed how much I like em ) and this one (along with a few others!) has been coloured and sitting very patiently on my desk, waiting to make it's way onto a card.

The perfect occasion arose when I needed a 'Thank You' card for an awesome partner in 'crafting' crime, who kindly stepped in to look after fish, hamsters and probably any other living thing in my house, while we were away for a few days!

Carola the animals are grateful, as are myself and the kiddo's!

Anyhow on to the card, and for a change, this one's coloured with Prisma pencils and OCMS.

Sorry for the light on this photo but it was taken in the evening.

I've loved this image since I first saw it, but wasn't quite sure what I'd use it for.  That said, did you like my wit there with the sentiment, turning it into a 'Thank You' huh?  Not just a pretty face you know, I had to use my brain for that one!

As mentioned before colouring is with pencils.......

and papers are from Authentique's 'Fresh' collection.

Thanks for checking in today and hopefully I'll be back again sometime this week......if I can come up with something to post!

Have a great day,
Jayne.x.

TGIF and I'm back!

Well it's pretty obvious that my good intentions of 'blogging' regularly did not come to fruition!  However in all fairness.....technology is to blame!  I don't seem to have the magical touch when it comes to anything electrical at the moment (do NOT mention washing machines!!!!) and have been without Internet since the weekend.

However, the lovely people from my cable company have sorted things out (5 days later, but who's counting!) and I'm back baby!

So, I have plenty to show you, but I'm going to be a tease of course and spread things out......that way I have an excuse to visit more regularly!

Starting today with a card.  Another bookmark card to be precise........nothing extravagant, but I did enjoy colouring with my Prisma pencils/OCMS again, so here goes.

The image is another super cute one from Saturated Canary.....I confess I may have purchased one or two new ones recently (!) but this one has actually been sitting in my stash for quite a while, waiting for some colour.

Papers are mostly Prima with a touch of My Minds Eye thrown in there.  I kept things pretty simple, as the bookmark section  will of course eventually be detached and pressed between pages.

Well that's it from me, but before I go, I just wanted to mention there are lots of fun challenges starting today over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, in honour of the 2012 Olympics starting in London, England.  There's sure to be lots of fun and plenty of inspiration to get your mojo moving, plus a little prize or two involved, so head on over to the forum and get started.

See you soon......I am off to the Laundrette again!
Have a good one,
Jayne.x.

Pencils are my best friend.........and a few changes around here!

Good morning, another beautiful day.

It's put me in the mood for 'Spring cleaning'!  A little late I know, but what do you think of the new look?

I thought it was time for a change as things were looking a little tired around here, and I'm not sure if this is 'it'........you know 'it', as in do I love 'it', or I just can't be bothered to change the whole blog design again type of 'it'?  We'll see how things go, but for now, I like 'it'!

Well today's post is a card, and as the title suggests, the Prisma pencils have made their comfy little way into my clumsy paws.  Oh how I love them!  Every time I use them these days, it's like I've forgotten how awesome they are to work with, but today they are especially my friend.  The reason why.........black hair!

Need I say more?  Don't get me wrong, I love my Copic's too, but when I tackle the slightly trickier tasks of let's say BLACK HAIR (which I do quite enjoy with Copic's as it's a challenge that get's the juices flowing!), Prisma's are just so........easy!  They do the job for you, and all with just one colour no less........BLACK!

Anyhow, enough waffling, I guess I should post the card.

Wow look at that.....it even co-ordinates with the new blog look perfectly.....happy coincidence!

This card has a combination of 3 of my favourites:

#1. You may have guessed already from the previous hints....Prisma Pencils, and I guess I should mention the other half of the dynamic duo....Odourless Colourless Mineral Spirits.
#2. Another awesome digital image from Saturated Canary.  Every one of Krista's images inspires me to create pretty things.
#3. Authentique paper.  The quality of this stuff is second to none and I'm officially now a hoarder.  I can't wait for the next collection to be released, even though I have the previous 5 sitting untouched.  Can't help it ....it's just so pretty, I want it all!

Here's a little close up of the colouring deets for ya............

Lot's of little extra bits and pieces on here, some vintage, some modern.  Distress inks, torn edges, border punch, lace, ribbon, pearls, and those rolled fowers are made using a Dienamics die and a couple of different shades of canvas I had lying around.

Well that's about it from me for today.

I'm going out to enjoy the sushine and my last day of freedom...........it's the last day of school ya know........need I say more?!!

Have a good one and I'll see you soon,
Jayne.x.

Flowers.....the rolled variety!

Hello again!

Call me eager, jumping on here two days in a row, but I have two reasons for this:

#1.......the current challenge of 'May Flowers' over on Saturated Canary ends tomorrow, and as I quite often miss the deadline, I thought I'd make an effort and get this one in there!

#2........the ultra cool new magazine "Designed To Colour" which I found a few weeks ago, is now running a monthly challenge too, this month being 'rolled flowers'.

So this sweet little card happens to be the perfect candidate for both challenges!

For this card, I also went back to my roots and dug out the Prisma Pencils......oh how I've missed them!  It wasn't until I started colouring that I remembered how gorgeous they are to colour with...........be prepared for a little run on the old pencils!

So here's today's card, showcasing a few of my favourite things.......a cute Saturated Canary digi, Kraft cardstock, flowers and of course pencils!

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate making rolled flowers?

Love the look of them, and I don't mind working with fabric, but for some reason paper will not co-operate with my process 99% of the time!  Anyhow, after making six of them for this card, they finally started behaving themselves.

Colouring, as mentioned a few times already, is with Prisma Pencils blended with mineral spirits, and the image is framed with a little distress ink/blending tool combo.

Papers are from one of my favourite older MME 6"x6" pads from the 'Lost & Found Two - Blush' collection.  Rolled flowers are created using a couple of different sized Dienamic dies, some canvas and a little of the patterned paper.
The sentiment is made by feeding some Kraft Core cardstock through my Dymo, and then sanding a little.....love it!

Well that's all folks!

I'll be back again tomorrow, believe it or not.....3 days in a row.....could be a record!
Have a good one,
Jayne.x.

One of those days!

Not for me today actually....happy mood again!

This is just the theme of today's card.....I've certainly had a few days like this believe me!

The current challenge over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog is April Showers, so as this little lady has been coloured and sitting very patiently on my desk, waiting for you know who to finally put her on a card, I thought I'd better.
It's time to 'Cheer Up'..........

As the title suggests, the name of this digi is 'One of those days', and you can find her as also previously mentioned, over at Saturated Canary.

She's coloured with Copic markers and I've added a little distress ink around the image too..........

Papers are some of my favourites right now from the Authentique 'Gathering' collection, and the card layout is inspired by a previous sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch.  I've added a little bakers twine together with a couple of delicate tea roses ($1.50 bargain from Michael's!).

There's also a bargain butterfly (Dollarama) which I blinged a little with tiny pearls, and some machine stitching.  I'm not sure if you can catch it in this shot, but I forgot to mention there's Glossy Accents added to the raindrops in the image too.

That's it for today, so have yourself a good one and I'll be back on Friday.
Take care,
Jayne.x.

Beach babe!

Good morning, I'm flying in and out here with a teeny, tiny card.......I just didn't want you to think I'd forgotten y'all by neglecting my blog for another day!

Anyhow today's card is NOT square......how about that? It's also extremely small, as this is one of the largest circular dies I have (still not very large!). Hence it's also pretty clean and simple, due to not having any room to fit anything else on there.

No matter, it's another Saturated Canary image, so that's cute enough all alone.........

This California Babe was coloured up for a couple of reasons:

#1 To enter challenge #11 "Shaped Cards" over on the Saturated Canary challenge blog.......well, I didn't quite make the deadline for this one!

#2 To enter Sharlene's challenge over on the Two Scrapbook Friends forum, which was to create a card or scrapbook page showing some Summer attire.

I did meet the deadline for this one, but felt it safer for everyone concerned if you were looking at this bathing beauty in her swimsuit, rather than me!!!!

She's coloured with a combination of Promarker's and Copic's.........

and the only other addition is the Martha Stewart ribbon I can't get enough of (spritzed with a little water and scrunched) and a starfish sequin from the dollar store...........

That's all folks, but I'll be back tomorrow because it's Sketchy Wednesday over on the Two Scrapbook Friends forum, and guess who's up for the challenge this week?

See you then
Jayne.x.
