Camera Shy?

Good morning.......anyone in the mood for a sketch?

It's that time again over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, so here I am with this weeks Sketchy Challenge.

First up - the sketch.  Nice and simple, lots of scope for you to go to town and add your own little flare.

Next, my sample which uses the new 'Love Note' collection from Fancy Pants Designs.

I really like the grey, black, pink colour combination of this line......means it's not too OTT lovey dovey so you can use it for a lot more stuff than just Valentine's.

You can see the wooden veneers from Studio Calico are still in favour, together with a couple more of my faves......a new variety of Washi tape and my Dymo labeller!

I handmade the tag to hold the title, and was also finally brave enough to doodle directly onto the photographs, using my white 'paint' Sharpie........quite like how it turned out.

There's a little fussy cutting too, just to add a little more interest and dimension to that white space there.

Another page for the book.

I hope you'll get a chance to play along this week, but have fun whatever crafty mess you get into!

Take care,
Jayne.x.

5 For 5

How's it going so far this week?

I don't know about you, but I'm just not into this -27 degree temperature thing.......just a tad too cold in my book!  It's almost enough to put me of my Timmies Iced Caps for a while......almost.

Anyhow I did mention a couple of days ago that it is 'un'officially 'card week' here on my blog, so guess what I have for you today?

Nope, not a card, but a whole bunch of them.  There's a reason I have more than one of course, so bear with me and I'll share the deets.

Over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, members of the DT quite often run a challenge called '5 For 5'.  This is where the first 5 gals to sign up after said challenge is announced, are sent 5 items via snail mail, with which they can do whatever they please (within reason!)

On a predetermined date, each person will post a photo of their astounding creation and this is where we 'ooooh' and 'aaaaah' over each of them (really we do as they're always pretty cool!) and marvel at how the same 5 items can be manipulated into 5 totally unique creations.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short and get to my actual point here, the Two Friends decided to turn the tables on their Design Team and issue a '5 For 5' challenge to them..........wooo hooo, love it, bring it on!

So here are the 5 groups of embellies we were sent, together with a sheet of PP all from the Walnut Grove collection by Pebbles Inc.

The rules are that we can add whatever we like from our own stash as long as we use some, or all of each of the embellies.

So, I got to lookin' and a thinkin' and I looked and thought some more, and as much as I wanted to use all the stash, I wasn't quite sure how I was gonna accommodate a 'Hello', 'Hello Friend', 'Thanks' and 'Hello' all nicely on one finished product!

Soooooo, I did what any normal person would do in this situation........I cheated! (sort of)

I cut the heck out of some pieces, and also just happened to have sitting in my own stash, my very own package of the same extremely cool sentiment 'tags'.  This meant I could stretch things into a nice little gift set.

Most of the challenge product went into embellishing the outside of the box like so.

This collection works beautifully with Kraft card stock as it has a nice rustic/country feel to it, and I was super impressed to find the reverse of the red patterned paper has a gorgeous 'script' print on there.  This is what I used to cover the chipboard bracket........very versatile.

The inside of the box contains a set of 6 handmade cards predominantly using more of the paper, and various Spellbinder dies.  I did use scraps of paper from my own stash to add a little variation, plus you can only stretch one sheet of PP so far and six cards is pushing it just a little!

Here's the set.......

Not bad!

You can get your hands on this line of product from Pebbles, over at the TSF storeYou might also want to check out the goods from my fellow teamies, over on the TSF Blog (or the links to their blogs are over there in the left sidebar) as each one is pretty cool and inspiring in it's own way.  If you're local, all will be on display in the store too.

Well that's about it from me.

I'm hoping to finish another cool little card ready for tomorrow's post, so fingers crossed I'll see you then.

Have a good one and keep warm out there,
Jayne.x.

Kiss The Cook!

I must have subconsciously decided it was card week here on my blog, cause I seem to have a line up of them for you.

Today's offering will be heading across the pond to my Uncle in England, for his Birthday next month............cause for celebration yes, but not when it means someone creating a manly card,  who usually likes her cutesy, girlie images!

Well, I dug deep into my stash of digi's, and found one I had as a freebie eons ago.......Just Inklined Digi Stamps I believe.

So here's goes, something which should probably be made law (but only if there are attractive dinner guests invited!)........Kiss The Cook!

Papers are from one of the My Minds Eye 'Six By Six' collection paper pads, and colouring is with Copic markers.

That's about it.....short, sweet and simple!

I'll be back with another this week, as soon as I've finished it!
Have a good one,
Jayne.x.

Two Scrapbook Friends 'Oh My Word' Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Oh My Word! Blog Hop with Two Scrapbook Friends! You should have arrived here from Laureen’s blog. If you didn’t, you might want to start at Two Scrapbook Friends, so you can read all about it and you won’t miss any of the great inspiration along the way!

So..........choose one word for 2013 we were told......boy that was a toughie!

When the Blog Hop theme was announced, the first word that popped into my head was 'Breathe' and then I immediately dismissed it!  I needed something inspirational, something witty, something no-one else would think of.

I thought about it some more over the next few days, tried out a few other options and came to this conclusion........the word Breathe is my inspiration, my witty, and it may not be something truly original (later finding that it was to be included in our Blog Hop badge confirmed that one!) it speaks to me, and that's the whole point here.

Now of course when I say 'Breathe' I'm not just referring to the physical act of inhale/exhale type of thing, although I do plan on continuing that tradition!  I'm thinking more of the 'take a moment and use it wisely' theory.

All too often we are caught up in the busy everyday routines we all try to juggle, and although this is by no means a bad thing.......I really do feel blessed to have these choices and opportunities, I also worry that one day I will wake and wonder where the years have disappeared.

My children will be grown and I will wish I had taken that moment to give an extra hug, a word of encouragement, or just drawn on a little more patience to listen to thoughts of last nights movie, regardless of whether we will be 2 minutes late for dance class!

So there you have it, my word for 2013..........Breathe.

On that note I should probably show you something creative before you abandon ship and head over to Shelby's blog!

Here's my page..........Breathe.

There are quite a lot of my faves on here so I'm probably going to bore you with a few extra photo's.

The papers are from the Walnut Grove collection by Pebbles and I love them.....who doesn't like a wood grain background!  I did get a little carried away with the paint splatters, but I was having so much fun.

There's plenty of machine stitching here and there, and fussy cut butterflies from one of the sheets of patterned paper, are stapled to the page.

Wooden veneers from Studio Calico (this time in word form) make an appearance again, as they have on most of my layouts recently.  The journalling is tucked nicely into the Kraft envelope and stashed behind the 'popped' photographs.

It's not that I wanted to hide the journalling away, but I didn't particularly want it to interfere with the design either.

A doily, another fave, and a cute little banner held together with Washi tape and staples, rest in the corner.

More Washi, cause you can never have enough, continues the theme nicely.

There's an eclectic little collection of embellies, my favourite of which is no doubt the cheapest option.......the messy arrangement of loose thread pulled from a spool.

There you have it.  Thanks so much for sticking with me to the very end!

Be sure to head over to Shelby's blog, who I know will have something inspiring to show you, but remember these few rules as you go..............

A sneaky peak!

How's your week going so far, all good I hope?

We have a few sniffles in our house so it's a day for snuggling at home with my youngest.  Don't mind at all, except I won't be getting much crafting done (or anything else for that matter!).

Hence, I thought I'd just drop in with a reminder about tomorrow's 'One Word' Blog Hop with Two Scrapbook Friends.  Promises to be filled with lot's of inspiration along the way, so I'm hoping everyone has finished their projects by now (Jan I'm talking to you! lol)

As mentioned earlier in the week, here a little sneak peak of my layout for you............

just enough to grab your interest I hope.

Hopefully you'll be able to join us, remember there's usually a prize up for grabs along the way, so mark your calendar.

See you then,
Jayne.x.

Love You.

Hello, how are you doing?

Things got a little busy on my blog over the weekend, the most visitors I've ever had..........over 1000 of you lovely people dropped in......Wowsers!  That's a lot for this little blog and I think it was mostly down to Pinterest, although I still can't really figure what to do over there.......I just browse occasionally, usually when I'm looking for a dinner recipe!

Anyhow the point I'm getting to is I'd like to thank everyone that stopped by and especially those who do so on a regular basis.  Got a few new followers last week too, so a big warm welcome to those and thanks for joining me.

Onto some crafty stuff.

Another card today and I know I'm probably getting a little predictable here but it's another combo of my two faves..........a Saturated Canary digi paired with Authentique papers.  Sorry.....can't help it (well actually I'm not sorry at all cause I'll probably never get tired of these two!) but just to warn you, I went on a little colouring frenzy of Saturated Canary digi's recently, so you'll probably be seeing a fair few more over the next couple of weeks.

This one, I coloured a couple of months ago but yesterday, she finally made it onto my hubby's Valentine's card.

Fairly simple really.....I didn't want anything too fussy or girlie.....is it going to a male after all.

Colouring is with Copic's..........

and that's about all I have to say about that!

Have a great day.  I plan on it as this evening I will be lead by my fearless friend to a few session of BINGO!  I'm am definitely a novice, it's all I can do to get the numbers marked off let alone keep an eye on whether I've won!  This is why I rely on Carola to show me the ropes.........."Get your dabber ready Girlfriend, I'm ready to go!"

Also, one more thing before I leave.........there are exciting things happening on Friday.........Two Scrapbook Friends will be hosting a Blog Hop!  Now who doesn't love a Blog Hop especially when there's a ton load of inspiration along the way, and prizes to be won?

For once I am actually prepped and ready to go ahead of time........layout is complete, photo's taken, blog post scheduled, and I am lovin' this one.  I might post a sneaky peak sometime this week, but either way, set you alarm for 12.00pm on Friday and come join us.

That's definitely it from me so enjoy, see you soon,
Jayne.x.

The Happy Wanderer.

Good morning, pull up a pew and put your feet up for a little while!

I plan on doing just that today as a result of the abandoned teachers protest........kids are at school and I just might do......nothing!

Except for chatting on here a little and posting pictures of pretty things of course.

A card today with a coloured image - Saturated Canary, and Authentique papers no less.........I guess things are pretty much back to normal around here, can't let go of my faves!

Here goes.

This little lady will be heading into the current challenge over on the Saturated Canary Challenge Blog........song inspiration.  My song irritation inspiration is as follows:

I made the card for a girlfriend at work who's Birthday was yesterday, and who happens to make the 5 hour train journey back home  to see her folks quite frequently.  She just happened to be taking said journey yesterday on her Birthday, so I thought this image was quite appropriate.

As I was making it, for some reason that really annoying song from my childhood 'The Happy Wanderer' popped into my head.......know the one......."I love to go a wandering along the mountain track".........yep wander them every day........."and as I go I love to sing, my knapsack on my back"......never leave home without one!........."Valdereee Valderaaaah Valdereeee Valderaah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha"........I really should end it there.....it gets no better!

The reason it's so annoying (apart from the obviously irritating lyrics!) is that as a child, I was forced to learn and sing this song at school during music class for a whole hour.  It's one of those that permanently lodges itself into the deep, dark recesses of your brain and resurfaces at every opportunity, so you find yourself humming it!  After 3days when you finally thought you'd banished it, music class rolled around again and you were back to square one!

Anyhow enough of that......I'm already starting to hum in my head.

The layout for this card is inspired by Sketch #83 over at The Deconstructed Sketch, and colouring of the cutie is with Copics.

That's about if from me.  I'm off to find some creative inspiration floating around here somewhere, in the hope that I can make something worth showing on here next week.

Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.

The Sugar Bush.

Hi there, thanks for dropping in.

I have a double page for you today.......yes ANOTHER double that I created, and it's only January!  This means I probably only have to do one more this year to double my usual quota.

In all fairness though, this was again another layout I started at the very end of my scrappy weekend in November, and I finally decided to finish it last night.

The wait must have been worth it because I am happy with it at least........makes a change for any double I scrap.

So here goes with 'The Sugar Bush'.

Layout inspiration for this one came from a Pagemaps sketch.

The papers I used on here, from Authentique's 'Thankful' collection are technically Fall themed and this layout is not.......as you can see it's more Spring related (well a cold, maple syrup season, Canadian style Spring!) but I love the rich earthy colours and knew they'd work perfectly with the Kraft background.

I had to get some more of those wooden veneers that I'm lovin on there.........

............and another in the form of a word, layered on rolls of patterned paper.

I die cut a few tree branches to create 'the bush', then used my Dymo labeller together with Tim Holtz Kraftcore cardstock for the journalling strips.

And that just about does it!

I'll be back on Friday with a cute card, so till then, be safe out there,
Jayne.x.

Dies and Doodles!

Good morning.

I'm back hosting another Crafty Challenge over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum this week, the first of the New Year!

This time I'd like to see you use a combination of a couple of my favourite things........Dies and Doodles!

I recently realized that this dynamic duo appear on quite a lot of my creations, so why not challenge the rest of you to do so!

I know a lot of people really don't like doodling especially, but it doesn't have to be too elaborate and quite often, a few lines are enough to complete a scrapbook page or card.

For my sample I made a really simple, quick card using a couple of dies and a white Sharpie for doodling...........oh........and NO colouring! gasp!!

Told you it was simple, but I'm quite liking it in a refreshingly different (for me!) kinda way.

I hope you'll feel inspired to dig out the pens and die cuts for this one.

Enjoy your day,
Jayne.x.

Jon.

Good morning.

I'm back after my date with The Hobbit.....happy to say we were entertained for 3 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.  My daughter was asking when we could see the next one, as the credits were rolling so I'll take this as a good sign.

Back to reality and a scrapbook page today.

Another featuring my hubby and it's only January......this guy is getting far too much attention!

In all fairness, this is a layout I started at the beginning of November during my scrappy weekend......finally added the finishing touches last night.

So before it attracts any more dust bunnies, here goes.

Lots of different layers on this one, inspired by a sketch in the September issue of Scrap365.

Couldn't resist a little stitching of course and more of my favourite embellies right now - wood veneers.........

More of them here and some fussy cut chevrons 'popped'for a little dimension.

Papers are from one of the 'On The Bright Side' collection packs by My Minds Eye..........awesome colours and patterns in there which can be used for pretty much anything!

Well that's it from me for this week but I'll be back again on Monday.
Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.

Miss You!

Hello and a very Happy New Year to you!

Time for a card today, one which is just a tad late appearing on here.

Should have been blogged sometime last year as it was one I was fortunate enough to have published in Designed To Colour.  Unfortunately, due to the time frame you have to allow after publication, before you are allowed to blog it yourself.........(let's just say anything longer than a week is enough for things to completely disappear from my brains 'to-do' list)........I forgot until such a time when it miraculously resurfaced!

Looks like that time is now, so here goes.

Image is another cute Saturated Canary digi (I believe it was a freebie at the time!) and colouring is with Copics.

Papers are another favourite of mine......Authentique of course!

Well I hope your new year has started well.

I'm out with my eldest dd tonight for our 3 hour viewing of The Hobbit......quite looking forward to getting settled with my hot dog, Maltesers (obviously eating healthily has already disappeared from my list of resolutions!) and maybe a little nap in there somewhere depending on how things go!

Have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow,
Jayne.x.
