Happy Easter Weekend........and a little book that has nothing to do with Easter at all!

Well hello there, I hope you're all enjoying the start to your long Easter weekend?

My other half has actually had to work today......hmmmfff....so much for 'family time', but can't be helped so we'll be painting eggs, baking and snuggling up to a movie later........probably everything he wouldn't like to do anyhow!

Thought I'd post today because I've been slacking this week I know.  I've had a valid excuse with my stitched hand at least, but still there are things to post, nonsense to say etc.

I'm way behind with posting today's creation, as a couple of weeks ago the Two Scrapbook Friends DT were issued another '5 For 5' challenge........you know the ones where all 5 designers are given 5 items to work their magic with.

Here are the 5 items we were given this time around:

.....a couple of brads, a tag, some twine, kraft heart stickers and one sheet of 'Photo Freedom'/'Project Life' type of patterned paper.

So what to do with this little collection?

I intended on a layout but the paper stumped me right off, as I'd just worked with this type of collection for my last DT kit and felt I didn't really have any more photo's that would work that well.

So Plan B.....let's do what comes naturally......ramble!

A few ramblings actually, all put together in a neat little book.  Here goes:

Most of the product went onto the cover of the canvas book which was a super cheap Michael's bargain bin buy.....(phew that was a mouthful!).......$1.80 I believe.

A brad is added to a flower and a few of the heart stickers added to the circle tag, which is cut from the sheet of paper.

I inked up an embossing folder and ran the tag through, then added a little doodling to change up the appearance.

I then proceeded to cut the rest of the paper to pieces, and use throughout the book.

Pages 2 and 3:

The Dymo labeller was put to good use together with Washi tape, and there's also a bottle cap that seems to fit nicely.

Pages 4 and 5:

Photo's here were found on my phone and were taken using the 'Pocketbooth' APP.  I think I've mentioned before how much I love this APP......obviously my kids do too!

I added more Washi and a few different wooden veneers to finish things off.

Pages 6 and 7:

More wood veneers and this time some are glittered too!

And that's about all folks!

I hope you get a chance to check out what the rest of the DT created.......yummy as always......the links to their blogs are over there on the left.

Have a wonderful weekend.  I may make an appearance on Sunday as I still have one Easter card to post, but I guess I actually have to make it first!

Take care,
Jayne.x.

Little Red Wagon #178......Think Spring!

Hi there.

I'm sorry I've been AWOL the last few days........I really did mean to post and I have things to share, but I had a minor surgery on my hand on Monday which has made crafting a little awkward and everything else generally slow going!

Things are on the mend so till then I guess I'll just be moving at a slower pace (slower than normal I hear my Mother say!) even though I have plenty of projects I need to get finished up.

Had to drop in today though as it's Wednesday which means it's time for a new challenge over at Little Red Wagon.

This weeks challenge has been issued by Joanne, and she has told us to 'think Spring' and issued the following as colour inspiration.........

So no sooner said than done, here's my 'Spring'like (one handed!) creation.

Yes, there he is, the little guy most wanted for fraud right now, having convinced us all Spring was right around the corner.......have ya looked out of the window?!

I kept things fairly simple for obvious reasons, but I'm growing to like the clean simplicity of this.  Just don't look too closely at the fussy cutting - it's a little tricky to cut and hold paper with teeny tiny scissors when you have a bunch of gauze wrapped around your fingers.

The two separate digi's are from Meljens.......eons old probably, and colouring is with Copic's.

If you feel like joining along with this weeks challenge, don't forget to upload your creation to the blog.

Whilst you're there, check out the other gorgeous Spring creations from the rest of the girlfriends.

That's it from me.....typing with one hand and one finger is more than a pain in the you know what!

Have a great day and I'll see you soon,
Jayne.x.

Hoppy Easter!

Hi there

Here I am, happily hosting my first challenge for Little Red Wagon.

With the holiday weekend fast approaching, I thought I'd choose the obvious for my challenge.

Whether it's eggs, cute n' cuddly bunnies, or something with a more religious meaning, I'd like to see your Easter creations.

My card is of the cute and cuddly variety as it will be given to my daughter.

I love this sweet little image from Pollycraft.....love her 'bunny bonnet'!

She's coloured up with Copics and a little Glossy Accents are added to her specs.

Papers are We R Memory Keepers - last years I believe, and the 'felt' egg was from the bargain big at Michael's.

I'll hope you'll get a chance to play along with us this week, but don't forget to check out what the rest of the Girlfriends have created for some cool inspiration!

See you Friday......I hope!
Take care,
Jayne.x.

Bring Me Sunshine!

Are there any Britt's out there now singing the theme tune to Morcambe and Wise huh?  Come on you can admit it........show your age!

For those in other parts of the globe, I'm guessing you have no clue, so please ignore.

On to today's Blogging creation which comes in the form of a Crafty Challenge I'm hosting this week, over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum.

I'm hoping that if enough of you lovely folks join in with this challenge, we might just encourage Spring to arrive a little earlier than the current agenda seems to have planned for us.

Yes.....the theme for this week is 'Sunshine'!

I'd like to see some form or another on your crafty creation, and if Mother Nature just doesn't get the hint, at least we'll all have something to remind us of sunnier days.

Here's my page:

A simple little page today which still seemed to take forever due to all the stitching on there!

The papers and various stickers are Echo Park, together with a few buttons, flower and puffy sticker things I've had in my stash forever.

I do like the new funky pink tape I found for my Dymo labeller.....just the job on here, and I cut the star burst strips using a mask.

Today's layout was inspired by a sketch from Creative Scrappers.

That's about it for today but I'll be back on Wednesday as I'm raiding my wagon to host my first challenge over on Little Red Wagon.

See you then,
Jayne.x.

Wagons roll......Little Red One's that is!

Hi there, it's Wednesday and we're mid way through March break so do you have that frazzled look about you yet?

Things have been busy in our house, with various excursions to keep the little people entertained.

I had to jump on here today though to share my happy news.

I'm more than pleased to say I'll be joining the creative talents of the ladies over at Little Red Wagon, so tune in every Wednesday, where I'll be digging into my own 'fully loaded' wagon of stash to create some suitably awesome cards!

My cardmaking mojo has been slightly lackluster recently, so I'm hoping this will be the kick start I need to get things moving again.

Anyhow, it's time to get down to business with this weeks challenge.

Rosanne asked us to use a 'window' die or image, so after trawling through my digi's and stamps I realised I didn't have any suitable images!

Just as well then, that I have a suitably awesome die that would work just fine.

Here goes:

I wanted to create a typical living room wall complete with dado rail on the front of the card, so I chose 'wallpaper' themed prints..........some your Mom would be proud of!  Papers are from Authentique's 'Lively' collection.

There's a piece of acetate behind the die cut window to create the panes of glass, and the tree digi has also been sitting in my stash forever, from Lauretta's Digital Stamps.

I'm thinking this will eventually be my hubby's Anniversary card, which isn't for another few months but there's nothing like being prepared ahead of time..........for once!

I was really pleased to find the sentiment sitting in my stash ,from probably a couple of years ago ( a freebie from Melonheads I believe) and it's so apt as I've known my better half since we were children.

Colouring for this one is with Prisma pencils and OCMS and I admit I went a little overboard with the clouds!

Well that's it for my first LRW challenge but don't forget to hop on over to the challenge blog and check out the creative talents of the rest of the DT.  I hope you'll also join me again next Wednesday when I'll be hosting my first challenge!

Till then, I'll be back here again on Friday with something.......well I'm not quite sure what actually......I have so many things to choose from for once!

Enjoy the rest of your week,
Jayne.x.

A Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Hello, hope it's a happy Monday and you're pretty much recovered from loosing that extra hour over the weekend!

It's the start of March break here in Canada, so off to the museum with the kiddo's later....gotta keep em busy for everyone's sake!

Thought I'd better schedule today's post, as you can guarantee there's no way I'm rising at 6.00am when I don't have too.  For that matter.......don't think I've ever risen at 6.00am.

Anyhow, time for a layout.

I was given the opportunity recently by Kristine Davidson over at Creative Scrappers, to work with their final Sketch for a 'Readers Reveal'........a fond farewell before they take a well deserved hiatus.

So here's the sketch I was given:

For some reason this sketch was screaming 'Disney layout' to me.......quite unusual as I've NEVER scrapped a Disney layout.  Guess there's a first time for everything!

So here's my first ever Disney page.

I've had these papers from Queen & Co for a while, waiting for me to start that Disney album!  I'll get around to it one day.....I hope.

I also made use of the 'Mickey' buttons I bought from Scrapfest a couple of years ago, together with lots of circles and embossing.

The title uses a variety of alpha's and also a few glittered die cuts given to me quite a while ago......thanks Carola!

A happy jack-o-lantern charm works nicely on the photograph and a few more circles create Mickey himself..........of course I had to add a little Dickie bow using scraps of yellow ribbon.

And that's it for this one.

Hope you'll visit again when I'll be back on Wednesday, as I have some exciting news!

Till then, have a good one,
Jayne.x.

Me @ 40!

Well I didn't quite make it back here yesterday now did I?

To make amends I thought I'd better make one of my rare Saturday appearances, just so that I can round things up and reveal my 5th and final Two Scrapbook Friends DT project, using Today's Story from Echo Park.

So the last sleeve in this pack was the one I found most interesting.  It's divided so that the one side has a compartment measuring approx. 6"x12", and the other has 3 horizontal sections, each 4"x6".

The first thing that sprung to mind was that the large vertical half would be perfect to house photo booth style pics.......so that's what I did!

Here's 'Me @ 40'.

The photo's were again taken using the 'Pocketbooth' APP on my phone.....have I mentioned how much I love this.........almost as much as my kids do!

I used a whole bunch of wooden veneers on this page too and an abundance of glitter, which not only covered the little camera and typewriter, but also the rather large '@' symbol.

There's a fair amount of stickers used from the included sheet and a selection of washi tape, the black and white chevron type of thing being one of my faves.

I used one of the 4"x6" cards for the journalling around my 'mugshot' (thanks Dymo....again!) and used another wood veneer on there with yet more glitter for the word 'today'.

And that's about it.

I like this one, it was fun, and who says a lady should never reveal her age!!

I'll hopefully be back on Monday as I have lots of goodies to post, however it is March break so it all depends if 'Mom' is given time off by the kiddies for good behaviour, to escape to Blogland!

Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.

Snapshot of You.....and a Sketch!

Hi there's how's it going so far?

I'm having a busy one, lots of creative stuff I'm trying to get done, but just enough time to hop on here.

I'm sort of killing two birds with one stone today.

First up.......a continuation of my latest Two Scrapbook Friends DT reveal using Echo Parks 'Today's Story.

Second, it happens to be my turn for this weeks Sketch Challenge over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, so there'll be a little 'sketchy goodness' at the end of my post.

So, for today's layout I used the 12"x12" sleeve included in the above pack, which gives you the opportunity to create a 'regular' type of scrapbook page.  That's the beauty of this kit.......it really does provide a nice variety of layout options.

Here's today's page:

I loved this simple little shot of my daughter as we were dining out one night, and the included sticker sheet provided the perfect title!

The solitary 12"x12" sheet of patterned paper I had remaining in the kit, together with a few scraps sort of determined the pastel colour scheme, so I continued with the elegant 'chintzy' style........doilies and crochet........what more can I say?!

The birdcage die fits in quite nicely with that, and the fact that it was a yard sale bargain makes it all the more sweet.

Finally, the wide vertical strip was actually the starting point for this page, however I decided to divide it into two using my Mini 8 punch and create the 'bracket' edge.  Another sticker fits nicely here.

Well that's about it for this page but I did promise a sketch, so killing two birds with one stone and all that, here's my sketch taken from today's layout.

I hope you can use it and maybe even join in with this weeks challenge over on the Forum.

Have a great day and I'll see you Friday,
Jayne.x.

Right Now......Dessert!

Hi there, I hope you had a good weekend.

I certainly did, even though it flew by as is the norm.  Spent a lovely day scrapping with a great group of gals on Saturday, and then working Sunday.......my penance I guess for enjoying the whole previous day to myself!

Anyhow at least I got a few more pages completed for the blog.  They'll be appearing here and there over the next few weeks.

Today though, I'm continuing with 'sleeve' #3 from my recent Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit, showcasing one of the Photo Freedom packs from Echo Park.........'Today's Story".

Today's page is the last one in the pack, which incorporates a variety of smaller photo/card compartments.........this time an arrangement of horizontal 4"x6", and I kept things nice and simple.

The subject........one that's close to my heart......FOOD!

This particular example happens to be my Birthday dinner at one of my favourite restaurants, Milestones.  I have to say this is one of the few places where I can even get excited over vegetables, but dessert.......need I say more?!

There's plenty of room on the enclosed cards for journalling, which was printed straight from Word, together with a minimum of stickers.  Another holds the title nicely, utilizing more of the alpha stickers included in this pack.

The last and final card works for a subtitle, with more of those wooden veneers from Studio Calico I like so much.

Simple and very easy, perfect scrapbooking on the go!

I'll be back on Wednesday with the solitary 12"x12" layout sleeve included in this kit.........works out quite nicely as it also happens to be my turn for Sketch Challenge day over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum.  With that in mind, there will be a bonus sketch of the layout tagging along.

See you then,
Jayne.x.

So Much To Love.

Hello again.

Here I am back with part 2, or rather sleeve 2 from my recent Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit, using the 'Today's Story' collection by Echo Park.

So, yesterday's sleeve consisted of a variety of 4"x6" and 4"x3" sections.  Today we have a vertical 4"x6" kinda thing going on.

I kept things pretty simple here too........the photo's do most of the talking!

My youngest.....full of character (and quite often mischief!)

I decided on a staggered combination of photo's and cards, the first card holds the title with a few layers and co-ordinating alpha's.

More layers and stickers on the second.

And even more, to provide a little journalling on the third and final.

Wow!  That's the most stickers I've used in the last 6 months!

And that's it for this page, but I'll be back again on Monday with project #3 from this collection.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend......I'm spending Saturday doing what I love most......scrapping, eating and good conversation with a great group of gals for 12 hours solid!  My blog will thank me for it, providing I do actually accomplish a little scrapping in between the eating and conversation!

Have a good one,
Jayne.x.
